What we handle

The whole ledger, start to finish

Four core services, priced together or on their own. Most clients start with one and add the rest as the business grows.

Bookkeeping

Bank feeds reconciled, receipts matched and a clean ledger closed each month — no shoebox in March.

Year-end accounts

Annual accounts prepared, reviewed with you line by line, and filed well ahead of the deadline.

Tax returns

Personal and business returns completed, with every allowance checked and a short note explaining the result.

Payroll & cash flow

Payslips run on schedule, plus a quarterly look-ahead so you know what is coming in and going out.

Who each service suits

Find your column. Anything marked “on request” we quote separately after the intro call.

What happens, and when

Every client gets the same rhythm, adjusted to their own year-end. You always know which quarter we are in and what we need from you.

  1. Quarter one

    Close & reconcile

We lock last year’s books and chase any loose ends while the paperwork is still fresh.

    • Final bank reconciliation
    • Missing receipts list sent
    • Draft figures shared
  2. Quarter two

    Accounts & returns

Accounts and returns prepared, walked through with you on a call, then filed early.

    • Review call booked
    • Your sign-off in writing
    • Filing confirmation sent
  3. Quarter three

    Mid-year check

A half-year look at profit and tax so far, so a large bill never arrives as a surprise.

    • Tax set-aside estimate
    • Expense habits reviewed
    • Software tidy-up
  4. Quarter four

    Plan ahead

We talk through hiring, equipment and drawings before the year closes, while choices still count.

    • Year-end planning note
    • Next year’s fee confirmed
    • Document checklist issued

Joining part-way through the year? We pick up at the current quarter and catch up the earlier months as a separate, fixed piece of work.

How we work

A small firm with firm habits

Brass House keeps a deliberately short client list, so the person preparing your accounts is the person you talk to.

  1. Fees in writing first

A fixed annual or monthly fee, set out in a one-page letter before we open your file.

  2. One named accountant

No call centre and no rotating juniors — the same person handles your books every year.

  3. A plain-English year-end letter

Alongside the formal accounts, a short summary of what changed, why, and what to watch next.

  4. Your records stay yours

Ledgers live in software you own. If you ever leave, everything goes with you, in order.

Questions

Before you get in touch

The things new clients most often ask on the intro call.

How are your fees set?

After a short intro call we quote a fixed annual or monthly fee based on how many transactions you have and which services you need. Anything outside that scope is quoted before we start — never billed by the hour after the fact.

Can you take over from my current accountant?

Yes. With your permission we contact your previous accountant for a professional handover, collect last year’s working papers and records, and pick up from where they left off.

Which bookkeeping software do you use?

We work in the mainstream cloud accounting packages and can move you over from spreadsheets. We recommend a package based on the size of your business, not on a reseller arrangement.

I’m behind on my records. Can you still help?

Often, yes. We prioritise whatever deadline is nearest, then work back through the missing months as a separate catch-up job with its own fixed price.

Do we need to meet in person?

No. Most clients work with us by video call and secure document upload. Face-to-face meetings are available by arrangement if you prefer to talk across a desk.

Can you help me set up a new business?

Yes. We talk through whether to trade on your own or as a company, register what needs registering, and set up your books properly from the first invoice.

Book an intro call

Twenty minutes, no obligation

Tell us a little about your situation and we will suggest a call time. Having these to hand makes the conversation more useful:

  • Last year’s tax return or annual accounts
  • Recent bank statements for each account
  • A list of your income sources
  • Payroll details, if you employ anyone
  • Any loan, lease or finance agreements
  • The questions keeping you up at night

Request a call

We reply within two working days with a suggested time.

We only use your details to reply to this request.
